A Oriental Study on Climacteric Disorders

Abstract
The climacteric has been one process which woman and man have to pass through. In West, the menopause which is one of woman climacteric syndromes is regarded to be generated from hormone deficiency, while in East it has been recognized as the exhaustion of ¢¥Cheongae¢¥ and therefore as a natural symptom. If menstruation appears when menopause has to arise, it is in Oriental medicine recognized as a disease and an intensive cure is required.
Of symptoms related to menopause in Oriental medicine, representave ones are Kyungsookwagibuji (continual menstruation after the period of menopause has already passed; that is late menopause), Kyungdanhuburae (reproduced menstruation after a long time when it paused) and Nyeonminokyungsudan (ceased menstruation before the period of menopause; that is early menopause).
Kyungsookwagibuji is recognized to be a disease which requires cure except the case of blood remainder. Kyungdanhuburae, as well, is recognized to be a symptom of intermittent bleeding before perfectly reaching menopause and it requires an intensive cure in case of menstuation reproduced after several years when menstruation ceased. Nyeonminokyungsudan is originated from endocrine deficiency.
